  1. no its not its just a group of people talking to atticus about the court case- kellie castillo

  2. The people are just older people that are concerned about the trial and the results of the trial. If a the reader keeps reading, a couple of sentences after Atticus actually says it wasent a gang

  3. I don't think the group was a gang because they weren't trying to hurt anyone. They were just trying to warn Atticus that they were worried about the "Old Sarum bunch", because they thought the bunch would try to do something to Tom Robinson, which they ended up being right about.

    1. I agree with Luke. They dont try and hurt anyone. They were obviously not a mob if they were warning him about someone else attacking. They also end up helping Atticus keep Tom Robinson safe.

    2. I also don't think this group of people is a gang. Madason made the point of them not being a 'mob'. The term mob and gang are two very different words. However the question asked if we thought the group of people were part of a gang.

    3. I agree with all of you. The group of old guys were just trying to warn Atticus, not trying to pick a fight.

  4. Its not a gang is like a meeting that was not planned. just a small gathering.

  5. It is not a gang. A gang is an organized group of criminals. I'm pretty sure a bunch of older folks show up to your home with no weapons, are not a gang. They only came to talk to Atticus about the trail. Also near the end of page on page 146 Jem asks "It wasn't a--a gang?" Atticus says "No,we don't have mobs and the nonsense in Maycomb. I've never heard of a gang in Maycomb."

  6. I believe that they weren't a gang, but they were also there to protect Atticus. I think they knew that that mob was going to confront Atticus, so they were there in the shadows ready to do anything for Tom Robinson's defender.

  7. Th group is not a gang. It is simply a group of friends of Atticuses warning him about a lynch mob. A mob that the sherrif thinks is going to go after Tom Robinson. We know this because number one they dont try to hurt him, they arnt threatening him, and the warn him about a mob.

    1. I agree with Madason. The group is just trying to warn them and its not a gang. The group isn't doing any harmful things.

  8. I don't think this group of people is necessarily a gang. They're trying to look out for Atticus by warning him about a potentially harmful thing.

  9. I don't believe this gathering of people is a gang. Most often gangs are a collective group of criminals or people with bad intentions. These people were simply just a gathering and discussing the situation.
